Serving is not boring. It is something that is fun and exciting, always keeps you on the edge of your seat. One of the best parts is coming up with new outreach ideas and being able to serve a group of people you’ve never served before in a relevant way. Yesterday was an “outreach first” at HPC. At lunchtime team headed out to the Baton Rouge Airport to bring lunches to all the employees that work at the airport. Overall, they served 125 meals to those who work hard to ensure our safety as we travel!
Another exciting part of serving that is also one of the keys to creating a lasting Servolution is partnering with organizations that are already working to bring change in your community. Just today alone, we have had two chances to do just that!
Today a team from The Rock Church in Wilmington, North Carolina mixed in with HPC-ers went out and helped with the Special Olympics. It is something that we partner with every year, and it is an incredible chance to show the love of God by just loving on and serving the special needs of our community.
The Office of Community Services (OCS) is the state office that is responsible for child services, including foster care. It was through our partnership with this state office that we were able to host our Fun Day for the children in the Foster Care system during Servolution. So today we were given another opportunity to serve with this organization, but this time we served the people that work in the OCS. There are people who are doing what Jesus called us to do by reaching out and loving the orphans. So we reached out and served them lunch and got a chance to thank them for all they do in our community.
We are so glad we get the chance to partner with amazing organizations like the Louisiana Special Olympics & OCS who serve the special needs and orphans in our community daily, and be given the chance to serve alongside them.
Guts Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma is a church that is radically focused on living and spreading the Servolution mentality. They are constantly reaching out and serving their community, and utilizing creative ideas to expand the people they can reach. It is because of their quest to reach the hurting that they held their first Tougher Than Hell Motorcycle Rally & Car Show 9 years ago. Bryan Tyler from Guts Church took a minute to share with us the background and heart behind the motorcycle rally:
“This past weekend we held our 9th Annual Tougher Than Hell Motorcycle Rally & Car Show. Through this outreach we were able to host 1000’s of Motorcycles and close to 10,000 people on our campus. Bikes began showing up early in the afternoon to get ready for the 2 hour ride through the most beautiful parts of Oklahoma and returned to the Guts Church campus just in time for tons of food, music and the bike show.
Paul Teutul Jr. from the TLC show American Chopper made a special appearance, signed autographs, hung out and just became an overall part of the Rally. The popular Charlie Daniels Band put on an incredible concert and Pastor Bill capped off the night with a powerful message of love and redemption to a sea of hungry people, both bikers and Charlie Daniels fans alike.
The Tougher Than Hell Motorcycle Rally was originally created to reach out to the biker community. That purpose has evolved. Years ago Pastor Bill made a trip to the island of La Gonave, Haiti and saw an impoverished community of starving and neglected children fighting to stay alive. Our motto here is simply this….”you see it, you own it“. Pastor Bill saw those kids- and he knew he had to own it. So now, we do the Rally for two reasons. We strive to reach two islands that are worlds apart- the island of the biker community in Oklahoma and the island of La Gonave, Haiti.
Every year we continue to raise money through the Motorcycle Rally to feed kids, drill wells, build and support hospitals, cut roads and educate children and families in order that we may preach the Gospel and that they would come to know the passionate love of God. Since Tougher Than Hell was first started in 2001, over 1.5 million meals have been served to starving children on the Island.
Next year is our 10 Year Anniversary of the Tougher Than Hell Motorcycle Rally and we are already anticipating what God has in store for what is sure to be an event that will be bigger than ever!”
Thank you Bryan for sharing with us all that God is doing in Tulsa and Haiti. And thank you Pastor Bill for continuing to impact your community and those around the world by reaching out and serving!
Check out this article from Leadership Network as Pastor Dino discusses with them the roots and basis of Servolution and it’s relevance into today’s church leadership.

One of the best parts about Servolution is that it is not a local idea that only works in a specific community or when trying to reach a certain demographic. Serving is an international language- one that all people can speak.
Over the past two weeks, a group of HPC Serve Team Leaders were able to go to both Swaziland & Mozambique, Africa to work with Healing Place Campuses there. During our time in Mozambique Pastors Isaac & Carol Williams were able to share some of the ways Servolution has spread in the town of Nkobe.
Water is a precious commodity in Africa, and clean water is not something that is easily accessible. During 7 Days of Servolution Pastor Isaac and his team took the huge blue tank loaded with 500 gallons of water, strapped it into the back of a pickup truck, and rolled through Nkobe. People who are typically forced to walk up to ½ mile daily for water were able to bring their buckets to the truck and fill up as many as they liked. Pastor Isaac described to us their outreach, “There was 1 family we served that we must’ve given 100 gallons of water to! They kept on bringing out pots and pans, so we kept filling them up.”
Throughout the week the church also gave away charcoal, another huge need that is used in households to cook each meal. They gave out 1,200 lbs. of charcoal, enough for each family to prepare 2-3 meals.
Servolution has not and will not stop in Mozambique because the team there spends each day reaching out and serving their community.
We would like to partner with them and help enable them better serve the people of Mozambique. The tank that they have been using for water outreaches (which doubles as the baptismal) does not seal properly and lost close to 50 gallons of water from it splashing during their outreach.
We would like to raise enough money to buy Pastor Isaac a new water tank that will hold more water and enable them to reach people more efficiently. If you would like to partner with us and give to this, please email us at serve@healingplacechurch.org !
