The association I work for sends school supplies for students in Haiti because even basic school equipment is very hard for families to purchase. Our member schools have been doing this project for a few years.
Canadians pack a “courier bag” (from Dollarama) with basic school supplies for students in schools in Haiti. $10 is required to help pay for shipping the supplies of which a charitable receipt can be issued.
Because this is a bit similar to Operation Christmas Child we never promote it around Christmas as we do not want to interfer with that wonderful project.
Some schools/churches like to do the Hope for Haiti project around Valentine’s Day or Easter.

Reaching out to widows is one of the few outreaches that are directly mentioned in the bible (James 1:27), and is possibly one of the simplest outreaches that you can do. There are many ways you can reach out to widows like bringing them a lunch every week, cutting their grass, home repairs, but one of the powerful ways to reach your widows is simply sitting with them and talking. Many widows are lonely and just want to find purpose in life. By simply hanging out and talking with them you will quickly find that even though u are reaching them, they infact are impacting you far more than you could ever have thought.

This outreach is where you bring the water outreach to the bar scene. The basic layout looks like this. When the bars close at 2am a group waits outside the bars with ice chests on wheels that are filled with water and Capri suns. At first this outreach can seem a bit awkward but it has truly become one of our outreach team’s favorite outreaches. We have seen more people come to Christ from this outreach than any other.

Outreaches at local colleges where you can hand out a wide variety of items weekly or bi-weekly. These items range from gum or water to granola bars. During exam week, you may also see us passing out “bluebooks”, pencils and many other exam neccessities. In order to reach out to the faculty, you can even give Starbucks cards to some of the faculty.

A simple bottle of water can mean so much on hot summer day! With hot summer days and bumper to bumper 5 o’clock traffic, we have found that simply bring ice cold bottles of water to a congested intersection, people will be truly blessed. This outreach has become one of the most reliable and consistent outreaches that we do, but is not safe for children. By simply packing bottled water into an ice chest and having a fired up team of volunteers, this outreach can be done year around and at just about at any local traffic jam!

Visit your local parks during the summer months and bring water and snacks. Hundreds of people are out at parks with families and friends on Saturdays. Even though this outreach can seem really slow sometimes when you do talk to a family about why you are doing this, it will shock you how much this means to them.

An emergency room outreach is mainly geared toward the faculty and staff of the hospitals. In realizing that many of the nurses and doctors work crazy long and exhausting hours, we decided to bring them Starbucks coffee, Red Bull and a variety of snack items. This outreach is normally done in the late or early morning shifts.

Take an entire block and completely adopt that block. Go door to door and visit each family and let them know who you are and bless them with a free gift. You can also have multiple day outreaches where you clean up the area, this can be as simple as picking up trash or as large as painting homes on that block. After reaching a few blocks in a local area have a block party and invite all the residents in the area to join you in a party!
