God has called each and every one of us to serve the people around us. Not just through a small group or even our churches, but also in our everyday lives. Living this out is a principle of our faith. In John 13, we see Jesus put Himself into the lowest position and serve the disciples by washing their feet. Though they resisted and felt awkward, Jesus still continued to serve them. Towards the end of the passage, Jesus says, “I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you.” He sets the tone for us to serve others no matter what the cost to us. As we pursue a deeper relationship with the Lord, we should do our best to spread His word and let others know His love for them. Serving is contagious. The love felt when you mix serving and faith is unmatched in this world. We encourage you to let go and let God have His way in you. Begin to look around for ways to reach the people around you. We are in a hurting and dying world and YOU are the light. Don't hide your light!
Don’t feel limited to serving only at organized outreaches or events. We are called to let serving be a part of our daily lives. Help someone load their groceries, surprise a friend with coffee, or bring a meal to someone living on the streets. It’s all about perspective and finding God’s purpose in every part of our lives. God longs for His people to experience His love, and He needs individuals to be alert vessels ready for Him to work through.
